Burgundy is the region we buy most carefully, because the name on the label matters more than anywhere else. Whites from Chablis (Brocard, Servin, Picq, Fèvre) through the Mâconnais to Meursault (Henri Germain, Jean-Philippe Fichet, Christian Bellang), Puligny-Montrachet from Matrot and Chassagne-Montrachet from Morey-Coffinet and Jean-Noël Gagnard. Reds from Irancy and Marsannay up through Nuits-Saint-Georges (Henri Gouges, de Montille, Bouchard), Volnay (Vincent Girardin, Robert Ampeau), Beaune Premier Cru from Georges Noëllat and Morey-Saint-Denis, with older vintages back to 2002 for the patient. Village wines for Tuesday, Premier Cru for the occasion, and staff who will tell you honestly which is which. Pickup, delivery or shipping where the law allows.
